19 November 2008 at the government’s sitting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved establishment of a new structure to manage the preparation for EURO 2012. As Vice Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy Ivan Vasyunyk informed, the new institution at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine would have staff of up to 50 people. Deputy Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Illia Shevlyak, who previously held post of Deputy Minister of family, Youth, and Sports, was appointed the head of the Coordination Bureau
Steering Committee on Preparation and Conduction of the UEFA EURO 2012 Finals in Ukraine was set up by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine under Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 08 may 2007 No. 389/2007 “On Ensuring Preparations and Conduction of the UEFA EURO 2012 Finals in Ukraine”. In accordance with the decree, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine developed Road Map for 2007-2012 as for preparation and conduction of the EURO 2012
Coordination Council on Preparation and Conduction of the UEFA EURO 2012 Finals in Ukraine was established under Decree of the President of Ukraine dated 08 May 2007 No. 389/2007 “On Ensuring Preparations and Conduction of UEFA EURO 2012 Finals in Ukraine”. Sittings held at least once a quarter are the main form of the Council’S activity. In case of necessity, the Head of Coordination Council summons an extra session
23 April 2008 in Lviv the mayors of Ukrainian and Polish cities established the EURO 2012 Cities Council. It will coordinate the process of the football tournament preparations. At the start of its activity, the organization was headed by the mayors of Lviv and Warsaw. The solemn ceremony of signing the declaration on establishment of the EURO 2012 Cities Council was held at the presence of President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko. Under the declaration, the Council is to work on a permanent basis, with meetings being held at least twice a year in 2008-2009 and four times a year in 2010-2012
