Vasyunyk: “Strategic wisdom to help my successor"

Former Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivan Vasyunyk noted commented in the TV-show "Shuster-live» that he convinced that the administrative system of Ukraine's preparations for EURO 2012, worked by previous government team will be useful to successors.
"In my opinion, the main challenge based on EURO 2012 will not become a platform of expression of some politicians or bureaucrats. Keep in mind that the subject of this project is an entire state. I t is not just the political ambitions of certain individuals, but rather the image and the future of the entire country that are at stake.

UEFA will help to develop children football in Ukraine

10-12 special football camps for children are planned to be opened annually in Ukraine. Agreement on cooperation between the FFU and International Association of the project of crossing cultures (CCPA) concerning such football camps signed today, on March 12. According to the agreement, Ukraine joined the international project development of mass football “Open fun football schools” patronized by UEFA.
Boys and girls who are not involved in football at the elite level will be invited to football camps.

Electronic ticket-card improves the quality of services in passenger transport

Ukraine has a chance to improve services in passenger transport by European Football Championship in 2012. This can be done by establishing one type of payment for the use of all modes of transport. About such payment President of NGO "Ukrainian Federation of the security industry" Anatoliy Dolynnyy told to the correspondent of the Information Centre  "Ukraine-2012".
According to Mr. Dolynnyy, to implement draft of the single card-ticket, for instance in Kyiv to 2012, is realistic: “The system has already established and functioning in the subway.

Lviv: Stadium construction continues

Construction of Lviv's new stadium, which will soon host the matches of EURO 2012 continues. Stoppage of works on construction of cross-beams (supporting structures) in the southern part of the stadium was temporary and not affect to the temps of construction of the arena. Work will be resumed in the next 24 hours, as informed the City Council of Lviv.
"Now, works on building the stadium are maintained. Pending some works of arrangement of cross-beams on the southern part of the stadium. This is due to the fact that the general contractor company “Azovintex” allowed some technical deviations from the project, implemented by Arena.kom.

"Eurofan 2010" another mini-rehearsal for EURO 2012

From 8 to 11 July this year IV International Fan-Festival “Eurofan-2010” will gather fans of leading European football nations in Ukraine.
Unlike previous tournaments, when in 2007 in "Eurofan" involved four teams, and in 2008 - six teams, this year sixteen fan teams will arrive to the  competition in Lviv. Among them: FC “Liverpool” (England), FC “Internazionale” (Italy), FC “PSG” (France), FC “Hamburg” (Germany), FC “Atletico” (Spain), FC “Aris” (Greece), FC “Zenit” (Russia) , FC “Karpaty” (Ukraine), as well as fans of teams of the Netherlands, Sweden, Scotland, Poland, Wales, Norway, Belgium and Bohemia. However, this list of teams is not final.

Personal Security to be priority task

On the 2-d of March, 2010 Football Federation of Ukraine addressed very important letter to all football club presidents. Serhiy Storozhenko, head of Sports Medical Committee of the FFU stressed on the implementation of the additional measure to prevent player’s injures and on providing of prompt and competent medical care in case of injuries.
Proved by statistics that one could avoid several sportsmen death and save health of thousand if all maximal circumspection was followed.  “ In conjunction with that, we remember all sport training and competition areas should be equipped with automatic defibrillators according the Ministry of Health of Ukraine requirements.

Pomeranian Organizational Committee, about Euro 2012 in Gdańsk

The Fireplace Room of Provincial Office has become a place of the next meeting of Pomeranian Organizational Committee Euro 2012. The hosts of the meetings were: president of Gdańsk - Paweł Adamowicz and Pomeranian Vice Governor - Michał Owczarczak.
The meeting was traditionally stared by greeting PKOE chairman president Adamowicz, and next the coordinators presented the progress of Gdańsk and region preparations for UEFA Euro 2012TM. Many things have changed from the last Committee meeting (5 months). Moreover, the level of contracting hotel places, which is 65% has been summed up and the most important elements of preparations concerning safety and medical protection have been presented.

UEFA EURO 2012 LOC Ukraine presented official publication of UEFA Euro-2012

Today the House of Football has hosted a remarkable event for the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship. UEFA EURO 2012 LOC Ukraine Director Markiyan Lubkivskiy presented Alive (magazine) featuring the main landmarks of the UEFA EURO 2012 preparation by Ukraine and Poland.
Alive is a joint project by the Union of the European Football Associations and Local Organizing Committees in Ukraine and Poland. The 5,000 copies were published in Ukraine for wide public. Notably, readers can get information in Ukrainian, Polish, and English. The publication is a non-commercial project.

ISO launched for EURO online retailer

UEFA has launched an Invitation to Submit Offer (ISO) to operate its official online store for UEFA EURO 2012 and UEFA EURO 2016.
Continuing UEFA's sales processes for sponsorship, licensing and media rights relating to the UEFA European Championship, UEFA has kicked off the selection process for an online store retailer for UEFA EURO 2012 and UEFA EURO 2016.
UEFA invites qualified parties to register their interest and request the ISO for the online store retailer for the UEFA EUROTOP programme of events which is headed by the next two UEFA European Championships.

Arena.Com to suggest ideal project of Lviv stadium

On February 26, 2010, the intergovernmental working group chaired by Ukrainian Vice Premier Ivan Vasyunyk held its third meeting. “The construction process at location of the would-be UEFA EURO 2012 stadium in Lviv got off the ground. There are good grounds to claim that the object will be completed on schedule – by the end of July 2011”.  
It should be reminded that, following the second sitting of the intergovernmental working group, the customer (the Lviv City Council), general contractor (“Azovintex”), and consulting company (German-based Arena.Com) signed a trilateral agreement.

Michel Platini to visit Ukraine in April

Ukraine Vice Premier Ivan Vasyunyk revealed the date of UEFA inspection headed by UEFA President Michel Platini. Donetsk, Lviv, and Kharkiv expect the football officials to arrive from 4 till 8 April 2010.
Furthermore, Ivan Vasyunyk announced new resolutions by the government, in particular, regarding funding for Donetsk airport. “This week the Donetsk international airport will receive full funding, which is around UAH 50 million”, the Vice Premier told.  

Construction works in full swing at Lviv stadium

Today February 25, 2010, the UEFA Euro-2012 stadium in Lviv is seeing the launch of the construction works. Tomorrow the members of the intergovernmental working group will see the construction process in their own eyes.
Acting director of “Directorate for stadium construction” Roman Cherkas told, “To date, around 200 builders are involved at the site. In particular, monolith bars at the northern part of the object are being built. In total, 68 bars will be planted”.

Hotels for UEFA Euro-2012: Ukrainian plans, Dutch experience

The participants of the international workshop held recently in Kyiv studied the experience of Dutch investments into the hotel and security industries in Ukraine. “Dutch experience for Ukrainian hospitality area” brought together representatives of over 10 large companies from the Netherlands. Among them are Philips, Nedap, Haystack, Lundiform, Flame Guard, Merford, PSIC, Galvanitas, Kersten Europe, Himex, P&O Ferrymasters. Those concerned examined the Ukrainian investments proposals and suggested options for cooperation in the light of Ukraine’s UEFA Euro-2012 preparations.

Ivan Vasyunyk: “Conflict issues between the customer and the general contractor of the Lviv’s stadium have been settled”

Ukraine Vice Premier Ivan Vasyunyk confirmed that on February 25, 2010, the new UEFA Euro-2012 stadium in Lviv will see resuming of the construction. “If this is the case, the object will be out of risk and will have been accomplished in due time by July 2011”, the Euro-2012 national coordinator claimed. Vasyunyk stated that the misunderstanding between the Lviv City Council and “Azovintex” (general contractor) has been settled.

The airport: the agreement for the new terminal

The works concerning construction of the new passenger terminal on Lech Walesa Gdańsk airport will be commenced soon. The contract was signed on Wednesday, by virtue of which the consortium of Budimex and Doraco companies will construct terminal within 24 months, which is three months before UEFA Euro 2012™ launch.
Regardless of crisis and temporarily decreasing number of passengers, the Board of the Airport has finalized a tender for this biggest investment on Gdańsk airport.

Football family urged to fight corruption

UEFA president Michel Platini has urged the football family to join the fight against corruption and match-fixing after welcoming the recent decisions taken by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body.
UEFA president Michel Platini has welcomed decisions taken last Thursday by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body with regard to three European match officials – and has asked the football family for its help in the fight to rid football of corruption.
"I promised strong and positive action against anyone we find in the game guilty of any form of corruption or match-fixing," the UEFA president said on Wednesday.

Europe appraised investment raising by Lviv

According to Financial Times, which announced the rating of European Cities & Regions of the Future 2010/11, Lviv ranks third in respect of the best strategies to attract foreign investments. The first places have been grabbed by Hungary (Northern Great Plain) and Poland (Lesser Poland). True, the Lviv’s activity was boosted by UEFA Euro-2012 preparations.
European Cities & Regions of the Future rating is determined following the analysis of 223 European cities and 142 European regions. In total, over 50 ratings in different categories – economic potential, human resources, quality of life, development of infrastructure and business partnership - are specified.

Ivan Vasyunyk: “Slight lagging behind in terms of Olimpiysky NSC construction will be caught up within spring”

Olimpiysky NSC is seeing assembly of the largest crane in Ukraine. It will be employed to install pillars pinning the roof.
“On March 9, 2010, at 02:00 p.m., all concerned will have the possibility to have a look at the assembly process. Such works will be performed on a regular basis. We will mantle one column per day”, Ivan Vasyunyk informed.
As the official put it, Olimpiysky NSC is financed in full.

Olimpiysky NSC: crane, pillars, assembly (video and photo footage)

The Olimpiysky NSC renovation is going on following selection of the best option to establish the roof and examination of the pillars’ quality.
Now the stadium is seeing the assembly of Demag 2800-1 (big lift crane), which belongs to a Belgium company and is currently on lease. It is the only one machine in Ukraine and one of the three available in the world able to lift 600 tons. Notably, the length of crane arm is 114 meters.  
The pars of the crane are being delivered to the construction site.
